BILLS HISTORY
The Bills began in 1981 as part of the Tyner Youth Association. We
were 1 of 20 teams. It was evident after our second year that we
were different. We dressed, played, practice and had more fun than
any other team in our league. Parents wanted to get their children
with us so we added an 8 & under team. The next year more parents
wanted to be part of the Bills, so we added an 11&12 team. We
started playing out of town teams and acquired home and away
uniforms. In 1986, we were the first team to wear colored pants when
we purchased blue pants.
The Bills moved to Brainerd in 1989 and the Brainerd Bills were
born. We are the Brainerd Youth Association. Our program has made a
major effect in the community, as other organizations have pattern
themselves after us. We are the team everyone in Chattanooga wants
to beat. The Bills even won three (3) basketball championships in
the Chattanooga Basketball Foundation, which is also pattern after
the Bills.
To be a Bill is special. Parents must perform 12 hours in the
program; we have coaches that have been with us for years which most
don’t have a son playing. We now have several Bills that coach in
the program.
Several Bills have gone to college and the N.F.L. We are a large
family and we all live with a motto: “Once a Bill, always a Bill.”
The first Bills coaches were Efrin Stewart, Riley Walker both still
there, Johnny Harrington, George Maffet and Donald Grayson.
